In the period from July 26 to 29, 2022, a seminar was held in the city of Ruse on topic “Increasing the capacity of law enforcement authorities in countering organized criminal structures for illegal trafficking of weapons and ammunition”. During the seminar, were discussed topics related to operational methods to prevent, detect, intercept and prove organized criminal activity related to firearms, ammunition and explosive materials. Operational – search activity to counter the smuggling of weapons and ammunition. International police cooperation. Analytical capabilities of EUROPOL. Arms Trafficking Trends in Europe. Modes of action of the perpetrators of crimes. EMRAST – priority “Firearms” and many others. Legal issues related to the investigated criminal sphere were also affected. The participants and speakers united around the idea of the presence of shortcomings and imperfections in the current legislation, which makes it inadequate to the criminal sphere, which regulates criminally and administratively. The presence of organizational inconsistencies in the activity of the law enforcement authorities, which are assigned to counteract the smuggling of weapons, ammunition and explosives, was also found.
