In the period 09 – 13 May 2022 a working meeting was held with representatives of the Norwegian police. The working visit is implemented in the framework of the partnership agreement between General Directorate Combating Organized Crime and the National Crime Investigation Service (KRIPOS) of the Norwegian National Police Directorate in the field of trafficking in human beings.
During the meeting the representatives of Norway visited one of the Roma neighborhoods in Sofia. The aim of the visist was the delegates to gain a real notion of the living conditions, everyday life and traditions of Roma communities and the risk factors that make this group of the Bulgarian population particularly vulnerable in relation to the crime of human trafficking.
In view of the fact that trafficking in human beings is a cross-border crime, international cooperation in this area is extremely important. With this regard, it can be noted that the working visit was extremely fruitful and contributed to the acquisition of additional knowledge and professional skills to combat the crime of trafficking in human beings.
